Some days are hard.
Some days are pretty literally didn’t stop moving, chasing after children hard.
Some days are boneweary exhausted, didn’t drink enough water hard.
Some days are work isn’t done, riding the hamsterwheel hard.
Some days are cry in the shower hard.
Some days are just because, nothing specific, grey skies in the heart hard.

I’ve had a few of these lately. Call it a funk, tell me I need a mommy’s time out, or give me an essential oil to sniff. All these things are true and helpful… BUT my surefire way to shake it off is chocolate. Eaten by myself. It just is.
Some days are hard in a very everyday way. I believe it’s ok to eat a few feelings every once in a while. But if you’re going to do this, drown the everyday sorrows in chocolate, do it right. Shut the bathroom door, scrape every last ounce of these Fudgy Chocolate Pots from the sides of the ramekins, and feel an itty bitty bit better.
Fudgy Chocolate Pots
from Mom Knows Best, Gooseberry Patch
6 T. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 c. butter, sliced
6 T. sugar
1-1/2 T. all-purpose flour
1 egg, beaten
Combine chocolate chips and butter in a microwave-proof bowl. Microwave on high for one minute, or until butter is melted. Stir until blended. Mix in sugar and flour; stir in egg. Divide batter between 2 buttered ramekins. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes {<– this timing kept the pots too molten-y for my liking, so I would add a good five more minutes to baking time}. Serve warm.

Some days just need to end in something totally not good for you but oh so delightful – something in some magical way that unites the stomach and the soul
Last night for me it was ice cream – the good kind that we hide in the back of the freezer so no one knows it exists except my husband me me. Last night we pulled out the good stuff, the kind we hate to buy because it costs more than the cheap stuff by the bucket.
And we ate our ice cream in the midst of a stack of laundry we chose not to fold as we watched mindless tv.
Totally agree. Nothing bonds parents like the secret ice cream stash! =)
Yes friend, all things chocolate. 🙂 I’ll def have to try this recipe. Looks so yummy!!
I swear there’s healing power in it.
