Christmas came and whizzed by in all it’s sweetness. {I just accidentally typed ‘sweetmess’, which totally works.} People told me a zillion things about being a mom, but no one told me how wonderful it is to be a mama at Christmastime. We had so.much.fun. with our sweet Boy! He could feel the magic, I think. He who is never still sat and opened gifts, pulling off strips of pretty paper and tape and bows until he’d unearthed the treasure. And treasure he got – what a haul! Husby and I have plans to continue purging our life of excess, including Christmas gifts, but for this first-ish Christmas all rules were out the window. And though it wasn’t technically The Boy’s first Christmas, since I don’t remember much of last years, it felt quite like a first.

I do believe that I’ve over committed myself and my blog next month. Oof. I hope y’all enjoy reading book reviews, because I think I have 6 coming up. Oof again.

I’m thrilled that there’s a local radio station still playing Christmas music! It’s not over people – it’s just begun! Who’s with me?! {crickets} Honestly? I hate un-decorating from the holidays. It’s not fun at all. But after we take down the trees (yes, plural – trees) there will be room for some bigger toys that The Boy was gifted with. I can’t wait to see him play with a big ol’ baby workbench – he’s going to LOVE it!! Putting up some of his new, big toys actually makes me excited to take down the trees and un-decorate.

Not only did we celebrate Christmas this week, but last week we celebrated our Boy’s first birthday with the bash of the year. It was SO fun! And I can honestly say that, even though I woke up with strep throat that very morning. Details to come {not about the strep throat, about the party. please.} as soon as I get pictures organized!

For the first time, I felt truly drawn to a single word around which my 2013 will be shaped. I’m not ready to announce my word yet {God placed it in my soul and it’s comfortably settled in there} but will soon. For details on this project as a whole, visit OneWord365.com.

That’s a taste of what’s been going on around these parts! I don’t always get the chance to sit down and write, so to keep up with my little family & me, be sure to follow on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It’s easier for me to share bite-size pieces of our daily life through those avenues. Tell me – how was your Christmas?

LOL Your crickets comment really made me laugh. 🙂 We don’t take down our tree or decorations until Twelfth Night. My favorite part of Christmas is the week after, before New Years.
I played nothing BUT the Christmas channel on xm when I was out running errands yesterday! I have extended Christmas until at least New Year’s, or even Epiphany since we lived in Italy. Especially this year since the decorations went up on the 15th after our move. I chose the word “Finish” for 2012 and feel like my year was anything BUT that so I haven’t felt confident in any of the ones floating around my brain so far. I do love it though, helps me narrow down my focus when making choices (and trying to avoid being overcommitted. Best wishes for January for you!
